Tia Raimond Jones is a musician who loves to combine her love of singing and playing the cello. She started singing basically before speaking and has been playing the cello since she was five years old. She studied at the Special Music School in New York City under Yari Bond, who nurtured Tia's love of playing for many years. Since then, she's worked with conductors Leonard Slatkin, Perry So, George Manahan, James Dodgson, and David Loud. She has performed in professional venues including Neidorff-Karpati Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, The Garfield Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, Weill at Carnegie, and Carnegie Hall as well as the grand opening of the Raimond Cultural Center. She was inspired by young musicians while working at the summer music camp she grew up attending, Kinhaven Music School. She's developed her passion for teaching the younger generation what it means to be a musician. She wants to continue inspiring others, as well as gain knowledge from teachers, friends, and family. Her goal is to open a school where art of all forms of art are taught. She studied under Julia Lichten at Manhattan School of Music (BM ’25) and she has been very interested in playing Broadway tunes after participating in a pit reading for Mary Poppins and as the principal cellist for MSM Musical Theater production of Into the Woods.
